Abstract:
The University of the Philippines (UP) is turning 100 in 2 years' time and
its College of Engineering (COE) will turn 100 in 4 years' time. It took
almost 100 years before women reached top leadership positions in UP and
in COE. This is a relatively short time compared to other institutions. In
three of the top universities in the Philipines, the Dean of Engineering
is a woman. This lecture is a sharing of the experiences of these women
engineers as academic leaders. We will also discuss what it takes to train
and nurture women academic leaders.
