More and more female researchers are coming to the field of robotics.
It is, however, not so easy to find other female colleagues
even if you see them attending the same conference.
To help such people to know each other and set up a network,
we have created the mailing list, FRAU.
FRAU is a very small mailing list which was started by some students in 1999.
Almost 30 members exist from various backgrounds:
some are students; some are assistant professors;
some are researchers in national institutes or private companies;
some alumni members also join to advise younger members
as foregoers who majored in robotics
and then went on to work in different fields.
FRAU is currently operated in Japanese because most of the members
live and work in Japan and speak Japanese. However,
even if you cannot speak Japanese, please contact us if you are
interested in our activity/network.
For example, we believe that we will be of help to you
if you are a female student who is studying robotics
in a Japanese university and want to find female friends
of your age working in a similar field.
The same can be said for visiting researchers in Japan.
Again, the purpose of this mailing list is to facilitate networking
among female researchers.
We are looking forward to hearing from you!
