*** International Symposium on Microfabrication and Nanotechnology ***

Sponsored by Japan Society of Promotion of Science (JSPS) in collaboration with Japan Society of Applied Physics and IEEE Japan chapter

  18th and 19th of May, 2007

Takeda Hall, The University of Tokyo (Hongo campus), Japan

  http://www.u-tokyo.ac.jp/campusmap/cam01_04_16_e.html

The symposium will be topically organized to bring together researchers and students working on microfabrication and nanotechnology. The unique feature of the symposium is to stimulate discussions among various generations including eminent people who had contributed greatly to this field, young researchers who are now active, and students who start research carrier in this field. The topics covered in the symposium are, but not limited to,

 1) microfabrication techniques with electron, photon, and ion beams

 2) novel nanofabrication techniques

 3) ultrasmall Si devices and fabrication process

 4) nanoelectronics, nanodevices and physics in nanoscales

 5) nanotechnology applied for biology, chemistry as well as electronics and photonics

 6) inspection techniques, scanning probe techniques, and molecular electronics

The sessions will be held during 2 full days, including a poster session. In the evening of 18th, we will have a party to commemorate Prof. Susumu Namba's receipt of 2006 IEEE Cledo Brunetti Award.

Oral presentations will be composed of invited speakers, and contributed papers will be presented in a poster session.

Registration Fee:       10,000 (general), 5,000 (JSPS member), 3000 (student)

Party Fee:      5,000 (general), 1,000 (students)

The fee can be paid at the symposium site.

The invited speakers are as follows.

Prof. Tom Everhart (Caltech), to be confirmed

 Prof. Stephan Chou (Princeton Univ.)

Prof. Kenichi Iga (Prof. Emeritus, TIT)

Prof. David K. Ferry (Arizona State Univ.)

 Prof. Henry I. Smith (MIT)

 Dr. Shalom Wind (Colombia Univ.)

 Prof. Masataka Hirose (AIST)

Dr. Hans W P Koops, to be confirmed

  More speakers will be invited.

The deadline of the contributed paper is 14th of April, 2007. Please send a one-page abstract to Dr. Koji Ishibashi (kishiba@riken.jp), a secretary of the symposium.

No proceedings will be published, and a collection of abstracts will be distributed as a workbook.
