VTC2012-Spring will be held 6-9 May 2012 in Yokohama, Japan. IEEE VTS Japan Chapter welcomes you all and hope that you enjoy traveling and staying in Japan. We hope that the information we provide on this page will be a help to you. However, please note that we do not guarantee that the information is always latest and correct (of course, we will do our best to try to keep it latest and correct). Please reconfirm the information when you make your own travel plans. Yokohama is Japan's second largest city and is also one of its major ports. Yokohama is a relatively "young" city, compared to Kyoto and Nara, which have over a thousand years of history. You can enjoy the beautiful views of Yokohama, eating foods in the China town, going shopping, and so on. It is convenient to travel to surrounding cities, for example, Tokyo and Kamakura for sightseeing. The VTC venue is located at a harborfront "Minato Mirai" area of Yokohama City. You can greatly enjoy your stay in this area in various ways since this area has wide variety of facilities such as hotels from luxurious ones to moderate ones, more than 600 stores, more than 200 restaurants where you can enjoy foods from all over the world, art museums, concert halls, amusement parks, and so on as well as convention facilities for international conferences such as VTC2012-Spring. Actually, we believe that the period of VTC2012-Spring is the best season to visit Yokohama. However, you must be careful that this period is also a Japanese long holiday period, which is called "Golden Week." Since VTC2012-Spring begins at the end of the Golden Week, flights to Japan may be crowded due to many Japanese coming back from overseas to Japan. The hotels in Yokohama may also be crowded due to Japanese travelers. So, you should make your plans and reserve your flights and hotels early. The Golden Week this year is from Saturday 28 Apr. to Sunday 6 May. Please note that 1 and 2 May are not holidays but many Japanese businessmen take these two days off to make their holidays consecutive.
