IEEE SMC Japan Chapterは，IEEE 東京SectionとIEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Societyを親組織とする組織です．日本にあるIEEEのChapterリストはこちらをご覧ください．日本には 9つのIEEE Sectionがありますが，SMC Japan Chapterは，広島Sectionを除く8つのSectionに属するSMC Chapterが一体となって活動するJoint Chapterです．このJoint Chapterを総称してSMC Japan Chapterと呼んでいます．したがって日本で活動しているSMC SocietyのChapterは，SMC Japan ChapterとSMC広島Section Chapterの二つです．
SMC Japan Chapterの目的は，SMC SocietyがカバーするSystem Science and Engineering, Human-Machine System, Cyberneticsの3分野の日本での技術活動を盛んにすることです．会議，講演会，セミナー，その他技術活動を組織したり，あるいは，協力したりし て支援します．これらのChapter活動を通じて，SMC Societyに加わって活動していただける方々を増やすことも活動の一つです．
IEEE SMC Japan Chapter is an organizational unit whose parents are IEEE Tokyo Section and IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics (SMC) Society. See a list of IEEE Chapters in Japan. There are nine IEEE Sections in Japan, and SMC Japan Chapter is a joint Chapter of SMC Chapters belonging to these Sections except the Hiroshima Section; SMC Japan Chapter is not the SMC Tokyo Chapter but a joint Chapter consisting of eight SMC Chaters. We name the joint Chapter as the SMC Japan Chapter. There are two SMC Society's Chapters in Japan: the SMC Japan Chapter and the SMC Hiroshima Section Chapter.
The objective of our activities is to increase academic/technical/educational activities in technical areas of SMC Society: System Science and Engineering, Human-Machine System, and Cybernetics. The activities include sponsoring conferences and meetings, seminar talks and other events, supporting these events, and others. It is our other objective to increase our memberships through these activities.
